While the official release date is nice, it's only one tease in the conversation, which seems to feature a mask appearing from among those rifts that keep popping in-game up. While fan speculation around the mask is currently heating up online, it seems probably that this is a reference to the Japanese kitsune, or fox. According to Fortnite items
Western yokai folklore, the kitsune may shapeshift -- largely into human form -- and possesses various supernatural attributes.
While it's hard to say what this could imply for Fortnite Season 5, it will seem to be the very first reference to Japan we've seen so far. While other eras of history have emerged -- such as wooden carriages, pirate anchors or references to early Egypt -- that is the first time we have seen something which points to Ancient Japan as a potential influence to this season's heavily theorized, but still unconfirmed, time-travel motif.
More importantly, at least for Buy fortnite materials
many players, is the possibility that this could tease a kitsune skin unlocked throughout the Season 5 Fight Pass. The first teases for Season 4 showed skins which were available through its Battle Pass therefore it does not seem like much of a stretch.
While we probably will not know anything for sure until the season actually launches in 4 a.m. EDT on July 12, we will probably get a few more teasers in the coming days.
